Disposal Process for Computer Products: The used inventory is further sorted into scrap by type such as batteries, monitors, consumable cartridges (toner and ink cartridges), whole PC’s, and component parts. All systems are double checked to remove all asset tags. This process classifies the materials in accordance with RCRA (The EPA’s US Resource and Recovery Act of 1976 – further updated in 1988) and DOT regulations for transporting hazardous waste materials (solder, printed circuit boards, lead shielding in monitors). If required, packaging directly into DOT approved containers. Packing slips are compiled with listing of materials packed in each container. Proper labeling is done according to federal and state regulations. Shipping manifests and shipping documents are maintained providing transportation to approved disposal facilities. A copy of the Certificate of Recycling is acquired upon completion of the recycling process at the disposal facility. |
