Security Issues :

LANtek uses a proprietary software program, which utilizes a one-pass procedure for data destruction that includes triple secure data overwriting procedure, as DOD 5220.22-M disk sanitizing standard recommends. This process of wiping the hard drives clean includes a customized number of passes to destroy data (up to 99 passes i.e. 297 secure data overwriting procedures), which eliminates the ability to recover any files. In addition, this process eliminates the security risk of unauthorized access to proprietary data (for example: patient data, PHI). This process meets the HIPAA compliancy requirements. The software utility does not require an OS and supports SCSI, ATA, IDE, and EIDE had drive sub-systems
